UTICA, NY – Traffic was at a crawl on North Genesee Street Monday morning as Utica Police and rescue crews responded near the entrance of the New York State Thruway. The response was reportedly due to a welfare check on an individual in the area around 9 a.m.

Construction workers in Utica made a grim discovery when they found the body of a woman at a worksite. The body was discovered inside a construction vehicle.

Lt. Michael Curley, a spokesperson for the Utica Police, confirmed that while the investigation is ongoing, the death is not being treated as suspicious. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased woman, pending notification of her next of kin.
