Utica Police Investigate Shots Fired Incident on Elm Street

UTICA, N.Y. — On March 19, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Utica Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire on the 1500 block of Elm Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a spent .40 caliber shell casing at the scene. While speaking with individuals in the area, police gathered information suggesting that parties involved may have entered a nearby residence following the gunfire.
With assistance from New York State Parole, officers conducted a check of the residence in question. During the search, they located and secured a loaded .380 handgun. The investigation into the shots fired and the firearm’s possession remains ongoing.
