UPD Captain James Holt Graduates from FBI National Academy

UTICA, NY – December 12, 2024 – The Utica Police Department is pleased to announce that Captain James Holt has successfully graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy on December 12, 2024. This milestone adds to the department's distinguished history of participation in the program, which has seen several of its command staff members furthering their leadership skills at the academy.
Captain Holt joins an accomplished group of department members who have also graduated from the FBI National Academy, including:

▪︎ Deputy Chief Ed Noonan
▪︎ Captain Howard Brodt
Looking ahead, Captain Brian Bansner is set to attend the National Academy in 2025, continuing the tradition of professional development within the department’s leadership.
FBI National Academy Graduation
A total of 257 law enforcement officers from across the United States and around the world graduated today from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The 292nd session included participants from 48 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Guam, along with law enforcement members from 27 countries, eight military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
FBI Director Christopher Wray delivered remarks during the ceremony, highlighting the academy’s global reputation for excellence. The rigorous 11-week program offers advanced training in leadership, communication, and fitness, and is designed for law enforcement professionals with proven records within their agencies. On average, participants have 21 years of law enforcement experience and typically return to their departments to assume executive-level roles.
The FBI National Academy is renowned for its high academic standards, with courses accredited by the University of Virginia. Since its inception in 1935, 55,797 officers have graduated from the academy, which takes place at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia—the same facility that trains new FBI special agents and intelligence analysts.
The training received by Captain Holt will contribute to his continued excellence in leadership and service to the Utica community.
