TWO-VEHICLE CRASH IN TURIN LEAVES ONE DEAD, ONE INJURED

TURIN, NY – On the evening of September 1, 2024, a two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of State Route 12 and Milk House Road in the Town of Turin. State Police responded to the scene at approximately 6:00 PM.


The incident involved a 2017 Polaris Ranger 1000 UTV, operated by William J. Timko Jr., 62, of New Jersey. According to police reports, Timko was traveling eastbound on Milk House Road when he failed to yield at a sign posted at the intersection with State Route 12. As a result, his UTV was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150 pick-up truck, driven by Elmin Hodzic, 29, of Utica, who was heading southbound on State Route 12.


Timko sustained severe injuries from the collision and was later pronounced dead at Lewis County General Hospital. A passenger in Timko's vehicle, Gina Liakakos, 53, also from New Jersey, was injured in the crash. Liakakos was transported to Wynn Hospital in Utica, where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.


The driver of the Ford F-150, Elmin Hodzic, suffered minor injuries. He was evaluated at the scene by a Drug Recognition Expert and showed no signs of impairment. A passenger in the truck, Elizabeth Pagano, 20, of Utica, was not injured in the crash.


Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
