Train Service Halted After CSX Train Collides with ATV in Utica

UTICA, NY – November 27, 2024 – Train service through Utica came to a halt Wednesday morning following an ATV versus train collision near Potter Street. The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m., prompting an immediate response from Utica Police and Fire.
The operator of the CSX train reported striking an unoccupied ATV on the tracks, the CXS train was stopped just before the Route 12 overpass. No injuries have been reported.
The ATV involved in the train collision in Utica reportedly matched the description of an ATV stolen from "Powersports of Utica" on Commercial Drive in New York Mills.
Train service on other tracks resumed operations nearly an hour after being halted.
Utica Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.
