Three Separate Shootings Overnight Leave One Dead, Two Injured in Utica

UTICA, NY – A series of violent incidents in the early hours of November 8th has left a community reeling. Utica Police and Fire units responded to multiple shootings across the city, resulting in one death, two individuals injured, and a household narrowly escaping harm.

The first call came around 12:30 a.m., when emergency units were dispatched to 822 South St. regarding a male gunshot victim. Upon arrival, responders found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach. Preliminary investigations indicate that an unidentified suspect wearing a "Scream" mask entered the store and shot the victim before fleeing. The man was rushed to Wynn Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently in critical but stable condition.

While officers were investigating the South Street incident, they received a ShotSpotter alert reporting multiple gunshots on Faxton St. Shortly afterward, 911 calls confirmed that several individuals had been hit by gunfire. Police and Fire units arrived to find a male with gunshot wounds to his back and a 19-year-old female with critical wounds to her chest. Both were immediately transported to Wynn Hospital, but despite every effort from emergency and hospital staff, 19-year-old Keyamonie Davis succumbed to her injuries. The male victim remains in stable condition.

"Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with the female’s family during this painful time," officials stated. "We hope for a full recovery for the male victim."

The violence continued at approximately 3:30 a.m., when another ShotSpotter alert led officers to the 1500 block of Howard Ave. Officers found evidence of gunfire and spoke with residents who reported that multiple rounds had been fired into their home while they slept. Fortunately, none of the residents – including several children – were injured.

The Utica Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Major Crimes Unit are actively investigating these incidents and working to determine whether they are connected.
