Single-Vehicle Accident in Westmoreland Leaves Vernon Man Hospitalized

WESTMORELAND, NY – A serious single-vehicle accident on November 3, 2024, in the Town of Westmoreland has left a Vernon man hospitalized. According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, the incident occurred around 7:29 PM near the intersection of Daily Road and Lowell Road.
Deputies determined that Matthew R. Rook, 48, was driving a green 1995 Jeep Wrangler northbound on Moore Road when he missed the intersection, crossing Lowell Road and veering off the western shoulder of Daily Road. The Jeep struck a roadside culvert and flipped over, ejecting Rook from the vehicle.
Life-saving measures were performed on Rook at the scene. He was then transported to Wynn Hospital for further medical treatment.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident.
