DEERFIELD, NY – In the early hours of September 12, 2024, at approximately 2:20 AM, Deputies responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident on State Route 8 in the Town of Deerfield.
Upon arrival, Deputies found that 39-year-old Harry Snow, of Cold Brook, was driving a red 2004 Toyota Tacoma northbound when a deer entered the roadway. Snow struck the deer, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The car veered into a ditch on the eastern shoulder, where it collided with a road sign before coming to a stop. Shortly after coming to rest, the vehicle caught on fire.
Fortunately, Snow and his dogs had exited the vehicle before the fire started. Snow was transported to Wynn Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office received assistance from the Poland Fire Department, Kuyahoora Ambulance, New York State Police, and Nimey’s Towing at the scene.
