POTENTIAL GUNSHOT VICTIM FOLLOWING REPORTED SHOOTING IN EAST UTICA

UTICA, NY – Utica Police responded to reports of shots fired near the corner of Bleecker and Nichols Streets around 12:55 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers conducted an investigation and discovered several spent shell casings, indicating that a shooting had occurred.
While processing the scene, officers gathered information at the time suggesting there might have been a potential gunshot victim. In response to this possibility, calls were placed to Wynn Hospital to inquire if a gunshot victim had arrived for treatment.
According to police, two males riding bicycles stopped in front of a corner store, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and discharged approximately eight rounds at a vehicle.
Following the shooting, both suspects fled the scene westbound on Bleecker Street on their bikes. Police have stated they are not aware of any injuries to the occupants of the car or to any innocent bystanders.
