Philadelphia’s Most Wanted Fugitive Captured After High-Speed Chase

Westchester County, NY – A routine traffic stop by New York State Troopers led to the arrest of one of Philadelphia’s most wanted fugitives, authorities said.

On Saturday, February 15, 2025, troopers attempted to stop a vehicle reported stolen from Virginia. Police say the driver initially complied but then fled at high speed for approximately one mile before crashing and attempting to escape on foot. Troopers quickly pursued and apprehended the suspect a short distance from the crash site.

According to law enforcement, the suspect provided false identification at the time of his arrest and was found carrying multiple fraudulent forms of ID. He sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

A fingerprint analysis later confirmed the suspect’s identity as Geovanni Otero, who was wanted by the Philadelphia Police Department and the United States Marshals Service for homicide and other offenses. Otero had been sought in connection with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Melody Rivera, who was found bludgeoned to death in a shallow grave on November 8, 2024.

In addition to Fugitive from Justice, Otero faces multiple charges in New York, including Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (4th degree), Obstructing Governmental Administration, False Impersonation, Unlawful Fleeing, and Reckless Driving.

Otero remains in custody pending extradition proceedings to Pennsylvania, where he will face homicide charges.
