One Injured in Two-Car Crash Involving Sheriff’s Patrol Vehicle in Rome

ROME, N.Y. – One person was hospitalized following a two-car crash on South James Street in the City of Rome, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

The accident occurred around 10:38 p.m. on March 7, 2025. Authorities say Nancy Lumbrazo, 61, of Rome, was driving a black Nissan Maxima southbound when she crossed the center line and collided with a marked Oneida County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle traveling northbound. The patrol vehicle was operated by Sergeant Noah Danquer.

Following the impact, both vehicles veered off the eastern shoulder and came to rest in a ditch. Lumbrazo was treated at the scene and released, while Sergeant Danquer was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, and authorities say charges are possible pending further findings.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Rome Police Department, Rome Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, and local towing companies, Gurley & Fleet and Mike Jr’s Towing.
