OCSO Investigating Fatal Car-pedestrian Accident Involving Child

Lee, NY – Deputies responded to a tragic car-pedestrian accident at 6013 Stokes Lee Center Road in the Town of Lee on Thursday, September 19th, 2024. The call for a serious personal injury accident came in shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Due to the severity of the incident, members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit were called to the scene and have taken over the investigation.
According to investigators, 27-year-old Jessica Furry of Lee Center was operating her 2018 white Jeep Grand Cherokee in the driveway of her residence when the tragic accident occurred. Authorities determined that Jessica had placed her vehicle in drive and, while moving forward, accidentally struck her 3-year-old son, Cooper Farda.
Jessica Furry attempted life-saving measures on her son until emergency personnel from Amcare Ambulance arrived. Despite their efforts, Cooper was transported to Rome Health, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police, the Lee Center Fire Department, and Amcare Ambulance Services.
The investigation into this tragic accident remains ongoing.
