Man in His 30s Injured in Hit-and-Run on Oneida Street

CHADWICKS, NY – A 36-year-old New Hartford man sustained significant leg and back injuries after being struck by a vehicle late Wednesday afternoon on Oneida Street. The incident occurred around 3:35 p.m. near 3596 Oneida Street, between Red Hill Road and Oxford Road.
The victim, identified as Joshua Hall, was treated at the scene by emergency personnel before being transported by Edwards Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for further medical care.
The vehicle involved initially fled the scene; however, New Hartford Police quickly located and intercepted it in front of 3716 Oxford Road. The driver, William Smith, 37, of Sauquoit, was detained and administered a field sobriety test before being released on traffic tickets. Smith is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.
Smith faces multiple charges, including:
1. Moving from Lane Unsafely (NYS VTL 1128(a))
2. Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd (NYS VTL 511(2aii))
3. Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle (NYS VTL 509(1))
4. Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident (NYS VTL 600(2a))
The Willowvale Fire Company assisted Edwards Ambulance and New Hartford Police at the scene.
