MAN ARRESTED AFTER VEHICLE BREAK-INS AT UTICA REHABILITATION FACILITY

UTICA, NY – A man is in police custody after being caught breaking into several vehicles in Utica. Around 1:45 p.m., Utica Police received a report of a suspect breaking into cars and stealing items from the parking lot of The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing on Sunset Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers gathered a description of the suspect and soon spotted him riding a bicycle along Sunset Avenue. However, they lost sight of him shortly afterward. In response, a police supervisor requested additional officers to establish a perimeter around the 1600 block of Sunset Avenue, the 1600 block of Bennett Street, Sherman Place, and Shaw Street.
Approximately 20 minutes later, the suspect, matching the given description, emerged from a nearby area and walked directly toward the officers, appearing to surrender in the 1600 block of Sunset Avenue. The man was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody without incident.
Utica Police are continuing their investigation into the vehicle break-ins. The suspect's identity has not been released at this time.
