Juvenile Arrested with Loaded Handgun


 

UTICA, NY – In the early hours of September 23rd, Utica Police officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile found in possession of a loaded handgun. Officers were dispatched to the area of Rutger and Miller Streets around 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of two males acting suspiciously, both wearing black hooded sweatshirts and gloves.



While canvassing the area, officers located the suspects running through backyards on the 600 block of Blandina Street and detained them. Upon investigation, one of the juveniles was found carrying a loaded 9mm Glock handgun and was charged with illegal possession. The other juvenile, aged 16, was also taken into custody but later released to a parent.



The Utica Police Department commended the teamwork and coordination of the officers from A-Platoon in apprehending the individuals.
