Juvenile Arrested for Terroristic Threat Against New Hartford School Event


 

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – The New Hartford Central School District alerted authorities on March 26, 2025, after discovering a threatening message directed at an upcoming school event.



In response, the district contacted the New Hartford Police Department, which launched an investigation with assistance from school administration. Their swift efforts led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male on March 27.



According to police, the juvenile was charged with:


• One count of Making a Terroristic Threat (PL 490.20), a Class D Felony.


The suspect was arraigned in Oneida County Family Court and is currently being held due to multiple factors. Additionally, an order of protection has been issued on behalf of the school.



The New Hartford Central School District has issued a statement regarding a recent threat made against the Perry Junior High School Ninth Grade Dinner Dance.


The district praised the New Hartford student and family who reported the threat and urged the community to stay vigilant. “If you hear or see something, say something. Please contact local law enforcement and notify a staff member if you observe suspicious activity or concerning behavior.”



As a precaution, there will be an increased police presence at the Ninth Grade Dinner Dance on Saturday, April 5 to ensure student and staff safety.
