HERKIMER MAN INDICTED ON RAPE AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT CHARGES

HERKIMER, NY – Following a lengthy investigation, Ronald Nichols, 46, of Herkimer, was arrested on March 28 after a Herkimer County Grand Jury Indictment charging him with:

• Rape in the First Degree (B Felony)

• Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A Misdemeanor)

The charges stem from a 2023 incident in which Nichols, a Level 2 Sex Offender, was accused of having sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 13.

Nichols was arraigned and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $150,000 bond, or a $300,000 surety bond.

The Herkimer Police Department was assisted by Herkimer County Child Protective Services and the Herkimer County Children’s Advocacy Center (YWCA) in the investigation.
