Evans Mills Man Arrested Following Domestic Dispute at Adirondack High School

BOONVILLE, NY – According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, a 38-year-old Evans Mills man, Michael L. Scales, was arrested on September 22, 2024, following a domestic dispute that occurred at Adirondack High School in the Town of Boonville.
Deputies responded to the incident at 8181 Route 294 after receiving reports of a physical altercation during a custodial exchange involving three children. Upon investigation, authorities determined that Scales had grabbed the victim by the hair and thrown her to the ground.
As a result, Scales was charged with one count of Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree, a class E felony, one count of Harassment in the 2nd Degree, a violation, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.
The victim was evaluated on scene by Boonville Ambulance and transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for further assessment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Scales was taken to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and later transferred to the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by New York State Police and Boonville Ambulance.
