Driver Charged With DWI After Crashing Into East Utica Business

Utica, NY - December 23, 2024 – A vehicle crashed into the Metro by T-Mobile store in the Mohawk Street Plaza early Monday morning has resulted in charges against the driver for driving while intoxicated.



Utica Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:35 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the driver, identified as 32-year-old Arturo Williams, unconscious in the vehicle. After being removed from the car, Williams exhibited clear signs of impairment, according to police reports.



Williams reportedly refused to perform field sobriety tests at the scene. He was transported to the Utica Police Department, where he declined further testing. Despite his refusal, police charged Williams with two counts of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).



No additional injuries were reported in the crash, but the Metro by T-Mobile storefront sustained visible damage.
