Authorities Respond to Suspicious Activity in Westmoreland, Locate Missing Woman



 

UPDATE | According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, the reported missing person, Brenda M. Kelly (75), was located by the Oneida County Sheriffs Office Unmanned Aerial System Unit, in a wooded area approximately three quarters of a mile behind a residence, located on State Route 233, in the Town of Westmoreland. Kelly was medically evaluated on scene and transported to Wynn Hospital with non life threatening injuries. 



The Oneida County Sheriffs Office were assisted on scene by the Criminal Investigations Unit, OCSO UAS Unit, OCSO K9 Unit, OCSO ATV Unit, NYSP, NYSP K9 Unit, NYS Forest Rangers, Westmoreland Fire Department, Ken’s Garage and Upstate Towing.


 

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. – State Police and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) responded to a report of suspicious activity Saturday morning at 5678 Route 233.



Around 8:45 a.m., a caller reported discovering a vehicle abandoned in a field behind the residence. Authorities ran the vehicle’s plates through a database, which showed it was registered to a woman from New Hartford.



At approximately 11:39 a.m., the OCSO issued a public statement:



"According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, there is currently a police presence on State Route 233 in the Town of Westmoreland, regarding a missing person complaint."



Roughly three hours later, at 11:50 a.m., authorities requested an ambulance for a 75-year-old woman suffering from cold exposure. Reports confirmed that she was alive and ambulatory.
